Stronger Than All Season 3 Quarter Finals: Area 22

The STA post season is starting off on one of my favorite maps, A22. While some of the quarterfinals matchups are interesting, most agree that these two teams will provide the closest and most exciting match.

Some background:

• -[FI] and (1) have not played a regular match so far this season.
• -This is because (1)'s roster issues early in the season (first week) gave [FI] a chance to force the forfeit, even though technically (1) had 6 players on the roster willing and able to play.
• -This spurred some drama.
• -If (1) had played and won that first match, the two teams would have the same W:L at 5:3.
• -(1) and [FI] have scrimmed many times in the last two weeks of the regular season with both teams trading rounds from eachother. In other words, they are very even skill wise.
• -I am a completely unbiased observer, as I am clearly NOT on (1)shot's roster.

So, in summary, we have two fairly equally skilled teams with a history of drama fighting to advance to the semifinals of likely the last season of ET:QW before Wolfenstein / QuakeLive come out.

Investors Panic, FI stock tumbles 4 points after Team 1 Shot hits FI with their best shot.

(1) vs FI (4-0) Match Details
Aclipsa’s heavy vehicles were all-powerful, all-seeing and indestructible on the outdoor phases of Area 22. That Sharpie Rowdy loaned him must have really helped. He had the most kills in the tank at 35 and most kills with the Plasma Cannon at 11. FI’s Gunsmoke only had 3 tank gun kills. Gunsmoke did do better with the Plasma Cannon, getting 8 kills. Neither Gunsmoke, nor Donkeydong had much luck stopping Aclipsa. They each died 9 times from his mighty tank gun.

Donkeydong just couldn't get a break. In addition to the one time he was run over by the tank, Aclipsa ran him over with a Husky set on autopilot. Did you know that if you jump off a vehicle and it kills someone, you don't get any credit for it, or blame for that matter? If it did count, Aclipsa would have had 67 kills instead of 66. Donkeydong did get some sweet revenge, running over Aclipsa with his Hog twice. Donkeydong had the most road kills for the match at 4.

Poppinaclip tied Aclipsa’s 66 kills, but he prefered to use firearms. He got all 13 Railgun kills and all 6 Sniper Rifle kills for the match. FI didn’t have a single kill with these weapons. He even had the only 2 Flyer Drone kills.

Rounding out the top three killers was Nefilav with 62 kills. His kills were all from light weapons, 75.8% from firearms and 24.2 % from grenades. He had the most Assault Rifle kill at 29 and the most Sharp Grenade kills at 10.

Slanty was the only FI player to break into the upper half of the kill board. His 61 kills placed him at #4. Slanty had the most nade kills at 18, 29.5% of his total. His philosophy: If you’re out numbered or you can't out shoot'em, then nade'em. He also had the most Hyperbaster kills at 9.

Xu-B defense indoors with the Rocket Launcher played a significant role in the full hold on FI in round 3. He had the most RL kills at 22 and he backed it up with the most Machine Pistol kills at 10. He also had the most kills with the Obliterator (4), Lightning Pistol (3) and Plasma Charge (4).

FishStix was the best Constructor/Engineer with 11 (21.2%) of his kills coming from autonomous weapons (9 from mines and 2 from AVTs). He ranked 6 in total kills with 52 kills.

The Oppressor/Field Ops class played a minor role for both teams. There were only 11 kills from Violators (5), Vampires (2), Rocket Arty (3) and Plasma Mortars (1). Deivid had the most Rocket Arty kills at 2 and the most Trip Mine kills at 5.

FLiNT got 34.7% of his 49 kills using his trademark, the Accurized Lacerator. He also got the most GPMG kills at 2. The GPMG was not very well utilized during the match. It only killed 3 players.

Round By Round
In round 1, ONE was attacking and completed the 1st objective in just under 5 minutes. Then the mining laser was completed in less than 2 minutes. The last objective was blown about 4 minutes later, setting a TTB of 10:35. Split was most accurate at 41%.

In round 2, FI was attacking and completed the 1st objective in a little over 9 minutes. With only 1:24 left on the clock, they failed to beat 1 Shot’s time. The 1st set went to Team 1 Shot.

In round 3, FI replaced SoulVoid with Rebel. FI completed the 1st objective in 10 minutes after 2 disarms. FI then built the mining laser in a little over 3 minutes. FI managed one plant on the last objective, but it was disarmed with 1:40 left. Failing to get another plant, the round ended in a full 20 minute hold. Again, Split was most accurate at 39%. WTF, what kind of mouse/mouse pad do you use? What’s your secret?

In round 4, 1 Shot was attacking and completed the 1st objective in 3 minutes. The mining laser was constructed in about a minute. FI’s defense did manage to hold them indoors for about 7 minutes and they did manage to get one disarm. Eventually, ONE set a time of about 11 minutes, winning the match.
